Doug Campbell – Loss Leader E.P.
You could say I’m biased because I took the photo for the cover art. You could also say I’m biased because the first time I saw Doug perform live I almost cried (moderately embarrassing, but not a joke). Truthfully, Doug is one of my favorite musicians to come through SUNY Potsdam because he writes songs that are sweet and genuine without being the least bit cheesy. This new, supertiny EP is no exception, and you can get it from his bandcamp (linked above) for just a dollar!

We Are Enfant Terrible – Explicit Pictures
First, ignore the godawful band name. Second, get ready to dance. This was yet another CD from the radio station, so I went in bracing myself for the worst despite remembering the band being pretty good when I saw them at CMJ ’09. At first, I wasn’t convinced. I thought it sounded pretty cool, but nothing spectacular. After “Shanghai” (standout track, most definitely), I started listening a little more closely and recognized just how cool this album actually is. Cool is such a silly word, but it’s the best word for it. Honestly.

Thao & Mirah – “Eleven (ft. tUnE-yArDs)”
Totally poopin’ over this album already. This is the second song I’ve heard from it (one was live and acoustic, so I don’t know if that counts) but this makes me even more excited for the actual release! If you google the track name I’m sure you can find mp3s of it everywhere by now. Yesssssssssss.
